MPs Ababu Namwamba (Budalang’i), Paul Otuoma (Funyula) and Sospeter Ojamoong (Amagoro) at the weekend said ODM was determined to conduct free and fair nominations to give qualified candidates an opportunity to contest seats in the coming polls.
They said the party was coming up with new rules that would punish aspirants engaging in election fraud and other irregularities.
Speaking during a dinner party to raise funds to run ODM Busia County Office, Mr Namwamba said failure by the party to read the mood of the electorate during the 2007 nominations cost it some seats in the region.
That will not be repeated. “We lost Lugari, Ikolomani and Malava seats not because our party was not popular but because we cleared people who were not wanted by the electorate during nominations.”
The Budalang’i MP, who is also ODM Parliamentary Group Secretary, assured aspirants that they had equal chance to win the party’s tickets.
