Mvita MP Najib Balala at the weekend launched his campaign for the Mombasa senate seat.
Mr Balala attended special prayers of the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) at Makupa Primary School where he introduced Mr Ibrahim Babangida as his preferred candidate for the governor’s seat.
He said his combination with Mr Babangida “will be formidable and the solution for Mombasa problems”.
The former Tourism minister accused current Mombasa leaders of turning the tourist town into “a huge dumpsite”.
He said Mombasa was declared the cleanest town in the country when he was the mayor.
“I served you as your mayor, didn’t I perform? I served you as your Tourism minister, didn’t I perform?” he asked the congregation.
"He urged voters to elect him as senator “to bring real change in leadership in Mombasa”.
