Sunday September 9, 2012 - Two Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MPs have given Prime Minister Rila Odinga one week to either resolve the Mau forest crisis or they ditch the Orange party.
Energy Assistant Minister Magerer Langat and his Sotik counterpart Dr Joyce Laboso said the settlement of the Mau evictees would be a key campaign issue.
They said campaigning for ODM in the South Rift region would be difficult if the evictees were not given land.
“We want to see Raila Odinga settling our people in the 5000- acre parcel starting on Monday,” Langat said.
“How can the PM expect us to campaign for him for the presidency when our people are living in squalid conditions and dying of hunger in the camps?” Laboso posed
They further threatened to sue the PM and Lands Minister James Orengo for allegedly withholding Sh 1 billion set aside for resettlement.
The two were speaking on Saturday at St Catherine Catholic Parish Tegat in Longisia division of Bomet District during the ordination of priests.
