FRED Gumo risks losing Cabinet seat for STEALING MOI’s Range Rover

Sunday September 9, 2012 - The political career of Westlands MP Fred Gumo may come to an abrupt end after the Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko said he will contact the police next week with a view to reopen the case in which the Westlands lawmaker was caught red handed with Moi’s stolen car.

This move came on Saturday, after Gumo who is also the Regional Development Minister, recorded a statement at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters at around midday.

Sources close to the CID officials said they wanted to find out how the Minister acquired the vehicle which went missing in year 2008.

The state of the art car worth 18 million was stolen in 2008 from CMC workshop in Industrial Area, where it had been taken for repair after a minor accident.

It is alleged that Gumo has been colluding with major cartels in the vehicle industry to steal top of the range cars.

If Gumo is convicted of the allegations, he risks losing his Ministerial seat and his parliamentary seat.
