  • The team implored voters who may have been disenchanted by the nomination process to rally behind the party candidate.
  • ODM’s position in Ndhiwa has been rocky since the campaigns started with a section of the nomination losers throwing their weight behind the KANU candidate, Tom Otieno Onyango.
  • The dissenting group has been emphatic that there is no way they can back the ODM candidate since it would amount to endorsing an illegality.
Campaigns for Ndhiwa parliamentary seat by-election slated for September 17 have entered the homestretch with ODM party big wigs at the constituency to campaign for Mr Augustinho Neto Oyugi.
The presence of the high powered delegation led by the secretary general, Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o, was a clear testimony that the party is not taking anything for granted in its bid to capture the seat.
Lands minister James Orengo and Finance assistant minister Oburu Oginga accompanied the Medical Services minister. Others were MPs James Rege, Martin Ogindo and John Mbadi.

ODM’s position in Ndhiwa has been rocky since the campaigns started with a section of the nomination losers throwing their weight behind the KANU candidate, Tom Otieno Onyango.
The dissenting group has been emphatic that there is no way they can back the ODM candidate since it would amount to endorsing an illegality. They include Mr Duncan Jomo Osodo, Washington Ogutu Kalee and Robinson Onyando.
Mr Kalee hit out at colleagues who had earlier disputed the nomination process for having suddenly bid about turn.
“Let those claiming to be supporting Mr Neto tell the people of Ndhiwa why they have suddenly changed their mind,” he said.
Mr Osodo, a high school principal, is unhappy that he was allegedly robbed of victory during the nomination process. He came second according to results released by the returning officer.

Mr Neto is, however, unruffled by the dissenting voices, since he enjoys the support of 16 other losers.
Among those supporting Mr Neto are Mrs Monica Amollo, Mike Agwanda, Mrs Beatrice Ogada and David Ojwang all who were present during Saturday’s rally in Ndhiwa.
Mr Denis Orero, who also contested the ODM nominations, has dismissed reports that he was part of the dissenting group.
The five pledged their support for Mr Neto for the sake of the party and Prime minister Raila Odinga. “We know about all that transpired during the nomination process but that is now history” said Mr Ojwang.
