Ngilu denies interest in pre-election agreements

Water minister Charity Ngilu has ruled out any pre-election pact with other presidential hopefuls.
The minister told her opponents to prepare for what she termed a “bare knuckle” fight in the race to State House.
Addressing Narc aspirants at the Garden Hotel in Machakos, Ms Ngilu maintained that her five-point vision is what counts.
“My coalition is with Kenyans through my five-point agenda issues, Food and Water, Health, Education, Wealth creation and Women and Youth empowerment,” said Ngilu.
The Kitui Central MP sought to assure her supporters that she is firmly in the race and told them to ignore propaganda that she would not go to the end.
The minister, who was accompanied by Mutitu MP Kiema Kilonzo and the Machakos County Narc chairman Davis Musau among other leaders, told Kenyans to be wary of some of her competitors, some of who served in the Kanu regime but never offered Kenyans what they promised.
The Narc leader said she would through her bid christened “Basic Needs Revolution” ensure an equitable distribution of State resources to all regions. If elected president, she promised to empower women to equal men in terms of wealth.
She announced that party members aspiring for county assembly seats will pay a fee of Sh20,000 while women representatives and national assembly aspirants will pay Sh100,000 with senators and governors paying sh150,000 respectively.
And speaking at the burial of her cousin in Mbooni constituency and while addressing crowds at Kali market and Machakos town, she asked President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga to support her bid.
