Nominated MP Maison Leshoomo on Monday night suffered minor injuries after her car lost control and rolled several times at Muhotetu junction on the Rumuruti-Nyahururu road.
Ms Leshoomo, who was accompanied by six other people, was taken to Nyahururu District Hospital. She was attended to and later transferred to a private hospital where she spent the night.
Laikipia West OCPD Francio Nyamatari said the Land Rover vehicle lost control as it tried to avoid hitting a cyclist. It rolled several times. The MP was headed to Nairobi from Maralal.
The car's windscreen, front and left windows as well as the back window were smashed while another occupant of the vehicle, councillor Hadija Lekuya, also suffered injuries on her arm.
The seven occupants were treated and discharged while the vehicle was towed to Rumuruti Police Station.
On Tuesday, a helicopter airlifted the first time MP to Nairobi Hospital after she had been examined by Nyahururu Private Hospital's Dr Gachemi Ndirangu.
Dr Ndirangu said the politician, the first woman from Samburu community to enter the August House, would require her specialist attention to ascertain is she suffered internal injuries as she was still in pain.
It's really sad..
