Former Cabinet minister Raphael Tuju escaped unhurt after his car was involved in a road accident Friday near the Yaya Centre in Nairobi.
The former Rarieda MP, who has declared his presidential bid in the next General Election, was in the car with his driver when it was rammed by a lady driver.
The Nation gathered from witnesses that it was a normal accident and the lady was very apologetic.
“The lady seems to have been in a hurry and she came out and was very remorseful, it wasn’t a major accident,” a witness said.
The car was not severely damaged.
The former minister proceeded to Nairobi Hospital for what he described as a routine check immediately after the accident and thereafter flew to Mombasa having ascertained that he had not suffered any internal injuries.
Mr Tuju launched his candidacy for the race to State House in August and has already launched a secretariat to spearhead his presidential bid, which has focus on youth and a campaign for peace and against tribalism.
He has denied allegations of being part of a plan to split Prime Minister's Raila Odinga votes in Nyanza come 2012.
