Makadara MP Gideon Mbuvi on Thursday testified against two officials of the area's Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in a corruption case.
Mbuvi claims the two attempted to bribe him to allow them to defraud the Makadara CDF kitty.
Mbuvi claimed the two accused persons asked him to withdraw 300,000 shillings from the kitty so as to recoup the money he had used during his election campaign.
He claimed that the two promised to account for the money by inflating the cost of desks and lockers to be provided to schools within Makadara constituency.
However, Mbuvi said when he suspected the deal was fraudulent he decided to involve the Kenya Anti Corruption Commission.
The officers, Samuel Maina and Joseph Shimoli are charged with trying to bribe the MP and defrauding the constituency's CDF.
Hearing of the case continues.
And the case challenging the re-appointment of the Central Bank of Kenya governor Prof Njuguna Ndungu took a new twist Thursday after the four organizations said to have filed the case distanced themselves from it.
The four lobby groups accused a lawyer of falsely filing the case on their behalf and even swearing an affidavit without their consent.
Through their lawyer Julius Nyakiagana the organizations petitioned the court to carry out investigations to ascertain how the advocate had involved them in the case.
Meanwhile the court heard that weak management, inappropriate finance policy among others resulted to the closure of Uchumi supermarkets in 1996.
Former trade PS Davis S.O said the government had a total share of 26.5 percent in the company.
The former PS was testifying against business man Chris Kirubi and 13 others charged with conspiracy to defraud the supermarket chain of 147 million shillings.
