Wrangles in the Ford-Kenya party are set to end after Saboti MP Eugene Wamalwa announced he would not vie for the party leadership.

Mr Wamalwa said he would only seek to be a delegate. Sirisia MP Moses Wetang’ula, who has been fighting for the chairmanship with Mr Wamalwa, is now expected to take over as chairman.
The move by Mr Wamalwa could end the supremacy battle in the party, which enjoys wide support in Bungoma County.
Mr Wamalwa, who has declared his interest in the presidency, said the next election would be about alliances and not party politics.
“The next elections will be beyond who is the leader of a political party,” he said.
The Saboti MP recently promised to support Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi if he clinched the ODM party ticket to vie for the presidency in 2012.
Mr Wamalwa is said to be working closely with Eldoret North MP William Ruto and it is said plans are underway to form a new outfit for 2012.
Chairman Musikari Kombo said party elections are expected to be held this month on a date to be set by the national executive council.
Party members have been embroiled in leadership rows and when to hold the polls.
The faction led by Mr Wetang’ula claims grassroots elections have been held while Mr Kombo’s group insists that no elections had been held.
Election row
“We should hold grassroots elections before proceeding to elect national leaders,” said Ford-K youth leader Henry Maturu, who said the previous elections were a sham as the court had nullified them.
But the group allied to Mr Wetang’ula led by Webuye parliamentary aspirant Johnstone Walubengo says the court only stopped national and not the grassroots elections.
Some party officials accuse Mr Kombo of delays in announcing the election dates.
“We want Mr Kombo to call for elections so that we can elect officials who can steer the party forward,” Kimilili branch vice-chairman David Sabuni said.
