MPs attack Raila over claims of betrayal

Over 17 members of parliament allied to the proponents of the now controversial KKK alliance, are now hitting out at prime minister Raila Odinga for disowning vice president Kalonzo Musyoka’s continental mission to woo African leaders to support Kenya in its bid to withdraw from the Rome Statute.

The MPs led by Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri and his Chepalungu counterpart Isaac Ruto said they fully support Mr Musyoka's shuttle diplomacy because it has the backing of the President.

The MPs also cautioned the PM against questioning the president’s decisions and tore into his ministry supervisory role and his position in the coalition government. "The VP is the principal assistant to the President of Kenya, and the President of Kenya will assign duties to his assistant without concurrence to the PM, therefore what the VP is doing is proper and in order," he said

Kiunjiri insisted that Parliament had changed its stand on the initial objection to the formation of the local tribunal since the ICC process had been politicized.

"We are not trying to stop the ICC process, what Parliament is attempting is to ensure that if there are any trial it will be done on our soil, only a fool does not change their mind," said the Public Works Assistant Minister.

On his part, the PNU nominated MP Sam Nyamweya wanted the Africa union to explain to Kenyans on what capacity they appointed the prime minister as a mediator on the Ivory Coast crisis, because the issue had never been discussed by the cabinet.

Raila's remarks on the VP's shuttle diplomacy have introduced a new front line on the political front with politicians becoming increasingly unpredictable especially as regards their allies and foes.
