CAMPOSANITY

KU Got Played!
Shock greeted KU students upon reopening when they found the legendary culture week grounds have been converted into a construction site.
It appears the ever-zealous Prof Mugenda decided to erect a new administration block on the grounds that have acted as a sanctuary for the comrades who used it as recreational grounds for picnics, dates and other social excursions.
Meanwhile, word on campus has it that Ruiru Campus folk will now have to pay Sh15 for the free rides they have grown accustomed to getting from the university buses.
At this rate, we expect KU will soon be a pay-as-you-learn institution with everything coming at a fee, including but not limited to the ablution blocks.
Baraton Comrades Demand Better Roads
After keeping mum for too long, comrades from the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB) have decided to raise their voices over the poor service delivery in the region.
For many years now, the road leading to their campus has been a source of great shame for this so-called international campus.
Now the comrades feel that their university, being the highest taxpayer in Nandi South county, deserve better services from the local authorities.
The 9km stretch from Cheptiret to Baraton serves not only the students but also the local community and they are calling upon area MP Elijah Lang’at, who also happens to be an alumni of the university, to look into the matter if he hopes to get their support in the 2012 elections.
Narok Campus Complain Over Hiked Accommodation Rates
Comrades from Moi University’s new kid on the block Narok Campus are growing increasingly infuriated over what they feel is blatant extortion and exploitation from the administration and private developers in the region.
This is as a result of the exorbitant rates they are forced to pay for both on and off-campus accommodation.
So severe is the situation that up to six comrades are forced to share a single room as a result of the high cost of living.
We wish to remind them that the campus is situated in one of the country’s richest towns and so they are probably being charged for the luxury of neighbouring one of the world’s most fascinating natural reserves and their proximity to the 8th wonder of the world.
UoN Students’ Centre Now Open
Good news greeted UoNers when they resumed campus to find their newly refurbished students’ centre back in business much to the relief of many a comrade.
However, first years are having a hard time adjusting to the pricey menu at the centre since all they have known since they joined campus are the shady mama-pima joints in the infamous Club 36.
The re-opening of the Students’ Centre is also timely as with the newly introduced Mututho Laws making life unbearable for many comrades, they will now be able to entertain themselves at their convenience within campus grounds.
