ODM ranked most populous party, Synovate study shows

The Orange Democratic party is the most popular party amongst Kenyans. About one in every two Kenyans (48%) associate themselves with ODM party. The Party of National Unity follows 21%, ODM Kenya (7%) and Narc Kenya (4%) record relatively. These findings result from the latest study conducted by Synovate between October 24th and 30th 2010.
Considering the past twelve months, ODM demonstrates a steady rise of popularity from 36% in December 2009. Those who claim no affiliation to a political party have also declined steadily from 35% last year, although between June 2010 and October, the percentage has slightly increased from 11% to 14%. It seems that Kenyan found their affiliation closer to the referendum held in August. Hence the decline of those not affiliated to any party. The Party of National Unity, ODM Kenya and Narc Kenya have remained fairly constant, atleast from March 2010.
Further analysis shows that ODM has the highest incidence of support in Counties found in North Eastern province (77%) followed closely by Nyanza (72%), Western (65%) and Coast (62%) while PNU is most popular in Counties that are in Central.
On presidential personalities, as at October 2010, Raila Odinga is still the most popular (48%), followed distantly by Uhuru Kenyatta (14%). The survey deliberately excluded the current president based on constitutional limits to running for presidency.
