Muslims mark Idd

All muslims in Kenya marked their Eid on the same day, in a rare show of unity

Muslims across the country Friday converged in different parts of the country for prayers to celebrate Idd Ul Fitr, marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadhan.

In Mombasa, retired Chief Kadhi Sheikh Hammad Kassim led the faithful in prayers and urged Muslims to support the implementation of the new Constitution, which protects the rights of women and children.

In Nairobi, thousands of faithful gathered in various mosques to express their thanks to God for successfully completing the month of fasting.

The elated muslims exchanged greetings after prayers before going home to continue with the celebrations.

It was booming business in many parts of the country as the faithful shopped for food, drinks and clothes as well as gifts in line with the demands of the celebrations.

Unlike the previous celebrations, all muslims in Kenya marked their Eid on the same day, in a rare show of unity contrary to past years when different sections of the community celebrated on different days.

Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims Secretary General Adan Wachu congratulated to Muslims for successfully completing the month, of Ramadhan in peace .

In Nakuru, Muslims gathered at Afraha stadium at 7:30 am to mark prayers led by Imam Lashid.

The Imam urged the Muslim fraternity to assist the needy by feeding them and ensuring that everybody has enough food during the celebrations
