VP told to read Kamba mood and decamp

The ‘No’ team has taken its campaign against the Proposed Constitution to Justice Minister Mutula Kilonzo’s Mbooni Constituency.

The campaigns were held ahead of today’s ‘Yes’ consultative meeting for Kamba leaders in Machakos Town.

The ‘No’ team, led by Mutito MP Kiema Kilonzo, asked Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka to read the mood of the Kamba and jump ship.

Also challenged to defect to the camp are Cabinet ministers Charity Ngilu, Mutula, and MPs from the region supporting the draft.

Kiema, who was accompanied by his Machakos Town counterpart Victor Munyaka, former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile, and a host of civic leaders told Kalonzo his people were greater than the vice-presidency.

"The Kamba have already made their stand known. They have united in rejecting the proposed laws," declared Kiema.

Suffering brothers

He reminded the VP of the biblical story of Moses who abandoned Pharaoh and joined his suffering brothers in Egypt.

The leaders addressed impromptu rallies at Tawa, Kalawani and Kikima markets in Mbooni.

They repeated their earlier claims that 80 per cent of those supporting the ‘Yes’ camp were actually in ‘No’. "They have started defecting to our camp. You should prepare for more defections in the next few days," said Munyaka, and claimed the Government has given all ‘Yes’ MPs Sh2.5 million to bribe their constituents.
