Kalonzo Musyoka has urged Members of Parliament to place the interests of the country at heart next week when debating the issue of the re-appointment of Justice Aaron Ringera.
Mr. Musyoka said there is need to uphold the principle of separation of powers between the legislature and the Executive.
"I am not passing judgment on Speaker Marende but he needs to be seen to be impartial", said Mr. Musyoka.
He urged the members of parliament to look at the matter as nationalists and not be out to settle scores.
Mr. Musyoka said what Kenyans need now is to see the challenges facing them such as the looming famine, water shortage and unemployment being addressed.
On the sacking of the Kenya Bureau of Standards Director Kioko Mangeli , the Vice President said equality of treatment before the law must be observed.
The Vice President was addressing the press Sunday at Charter Hall, Nairobi after attending the conferment of the Honorary Doctorate Degree of Humanities of Mr. Nathan Murithi Kahara by the United Graduate Theological College and Seminary of California, United States of America.
He said the country needs servant leadership which was ready to uplift the people's living standards.
He called on leaders to double their efforts to unite the country saying that what people require now is national healing and reconciliation following the post poll violence which had divided Kenyans along ethnic lines.
Mr. Kahara who is a former Mayor of Nairobi City Council and the founder of the World Christian Unity was awarded the degree by Chancellor Dr. Clyde Rivers of the University.
He was honored for "his exemplary performance of promoting unity, supporting and empowering Christian leaders and participating in humanitarian activities".
