“I am going to the paradise (meaning Kwa Kyelu ranch) home at Maanzoni”, were the last words the late MutulaKilonzo had with his name sake son as he prepared to drive off from the law firm compound on Friday morning.
He said they met briefly at the car park as he went to meet with one of their longest serving Kilonzo and Co advocates employee Mzee Zephania.
“Zephania,I haven’t seen you for a long time.“Noukuaa” (don’t you grow old)?” Mutula Junior said explaining his father teased the old man before he walked to his car to leave for Kwa Kyelu ranch.
Mutula Junior recalled that his father arrived at the law firm’s offices about 8.00am and went straight to his Mwaki Foundation office.
After he took a cup of tea Mutula Junior said the two had a meeting that lasted about half an hour or so.
“In our meeting we discussed the election petition filled by his competitor John Haron Mwau and other family matters”, said Mutula Junior.
In an interview with The Standard on telephone, the second born son of the late Makueni Senator said his father was to sign his response documents to the petition on Monday.
“Dad was happy and in good mood throughout our meeting that lasted half an hour so”, he added.
He confirmed that his late father will be laid to rest at Kwa Kyelu farm which he so cherished.
“He really invested heavily in the ranch. He was most comfortable there because that is where he used spend most of his time”, Mutula Junior added.
He sought to clarify that there is no dispute whatsoever about where his dad should be buried adding the family is in consensus.
“I mean it is ridiculous for one to suggest we (family) are in dispute on this matter”, he said.
Meanwhile a brother in law to the late Mutula Lee Musau said was deeply shocked by the Senators sudden death.
He talked of how he received the said news while at the home of former spy boss William Kivuvani where he was to meet with the late Mutula on that fateful Saturday.
