Kenyans usher in new year with hope

Majority of Kenyans are optimistic that the new year will bring positive change
Thousands of Nairobians thronged their preferred churches, concerts and leisure joint to usher in  the new year in style.
At the Nyayo national stadium the rains did little to dampen the spirits of tens of thousands of fans who had filled the stadium to join various gospel singers to usher in the New Year.
At the Gods Power Church and Ministry, pastor john Nduati led his faithful in prayer and worship as they welcomed the year of jubilee.
In Pumwani maternity hospital registered six new born as the clock ticked away into the first 45 minutes of 2013.
Meanwhile, majority of Kenyans are optimistic that this New Year,  life will change positively. Those interviewed are expecting the New Year to be peaceful as the county gears up to the March 4th general elections.
Jerry Omondi expressed confidence that the elections will be peaceful unlike the bungled elections which brought in coalition government.
Omondi said that the economy will continue to grow as long as the March 4 elections are peaceful adding that Kenyans have opportunity to reject leaders who are pessimistic.
"Kenyans have a chance in the New Year to be peacefully and firmly reject those who would try to dampen the optimism," said Omondi.
Grace Wangoi said that Kenyans can do this by rejecting unsuitable aspirants and voting in only those leaders who are committed to fully implementing the constitution.
"They can recommit themselves to doing this in a peaceful manner," said Wangoi.
Kenyan leaders have also expressed hope for peaceful elections and projected bright future for Kenya
