Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka has told Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka he is to blame for their political differences.
Munyaka accused Kalonzo of deserting him “at the hour of need”.
He spoke on Saturday at Katheka Kai Secondary School during a fundraising to buy a school bus.
“I have been accused of having deserted you but today I want the two of us to ask ourselves this simple question. Who deserted who?” Munyaka said.
“It is you who deserted me...otherwise the Machakos seat should be a Wiper seat,” he said, referring to the party nominations of 2013.
Munyaka said he kept some political distance from Kalonzo because he betrayed their political friendship that began in 2007.
He said he fears the Wiper leader will desert Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, just as he did him.
“I am reading signs that you now want to desert Mutua, which will be unfair,” Munyaka said.
The MP, who is elected on a CCU ticket, urged Kalonzo to back upcoming leaders as a way of preparing for his succession.
However, Kalonzo denied deserting Munyaka politically, saying he invested a lot in building him.
“What my friend Munyaka wanted me to do in 2013 is give him a direct nomination of the party ticket, which was totally impossible,” Kalonzo said.
The policy of the party is that all candidates be subjected to a fair nomination, Kalonzo said.
He said he has no problem nurturing any leader but warned that some undermine him.
“If I may ask you Munyaka, why do you want to take a back seat in this nurturing? I have heavily invested in you since 2007 why now do you think somebody else is better than you or is there a sinister thing in this whole thing you call nurturing?” Kalonzo said.
Kathiani MP Robert Mbui and Machakos woman representative Susan Musyoka urged Munyaka to work for the unity of Wiper party.
“I want to tell my friend Munyaka that in 2017, there will be two things involved, Cord and Jubilee. If you choose Cord you are safe but if you choose Jubilee, you are finished,” Mbui said.
