Deputy President William Ruto’s wife, Rachel Ruto, on Friday was treated to a surprise baby shower by her close friends and family before the homecoming of baby Nadia Cherono.
Baby Nadia Cherono will be her ‘seventh’ born after DP Ruto adopted her.

The DP announced assuming fatherly responsibility to the young girl after he met her while presiding over the Madre Ippolita Children’s Home Sustainability Fund launch in Masinga, Machakos County on September 23rd.
Baby Nadia was abandoned by her mother upon birth, and was rescued by good Samaritans who discovered her when parts of her body had already started to decompose.
Upon adopting her, Ruto named baby Nadia ‘Cherono’; after his mother.
“I have named her (Nadia) Cherono after my mother and made her part of my family,” said the DP.
Since then, his wife Rachel has been anxiously waiting to receive her newest daughter, and when Nadia’s homecoming date of Monday, October 5th was settled on, her friends just had to do the honours – a baby shower!
The excited Mrs Ruto took to her official Facebook page to share the baby shower photos.
She wrote: “I got a pleasant surprise this evening from friends who organized a baby shower in readiness for baby Nadia Jerono who is expected home this Monday….thank you all and Karibu Nyumbani binti Nadia.”
