Sonko Rescue Team-from Nairobi to Dubai
Following numerous reports of Kenyans being mistreated in the Middle East, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has decided to open a United Arab Emirates chapter of Sonko Rescue Team.
Sonko, who is on a family holiday in Dubai, made the announcement on his Facebook page on Wednesday night.
“Due to high demand by Kenyans requiring rescue mission in Middle East, I’m planning to open an office for Sonko Rescue Team Diaspora People,” read his post.

The move was met by a positive response from Kenyans on social media.
“Hon Mike Sonko please do so, especially in Saudi Arabia! You need to rescue those Kenyans who are detained there,” posted Sue Suz.

One user, Elphas Cheren, advised the Senator to partner with the ambassador in his efforts to help Kenyans suffering in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
“Please Hon Mike Sonko, do so but most importantly hold talks with the Ambassador of Kenya who is based there to be more active and respond whenever Kenyans are in need. Also to ensure those agencies are liable for any mistreatment,” read Cheren’s comment.
Others told Sonko that he should deal with unemployment in the country as many youth are driven to the UAE to look for jobs when they are unsuccessful in Kenya.
This comes days after 23 mistreated domestic workers touched down in Kenya.
The plight of Kenyans living in ‘slave like’ conditions in the UAE has been featured in the media in recent times, and Kenyans on Twitter have run digital sensitization campaigns against the inhumane treatment.
