'Poverty stricken' Luos do not belong to your mother, MP Wanga tells Mutahi Ngunyi

Homa Bay woman representative Gladys Wanga has lashed out at political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi for calling Luos "poverty stricken".
"Poverty stricken Luo's mar meru! (Do the poverty stricken Luos belong to your mother?" she posed on Wednesday, in reply to a tweet by Ngunyi.
On Tuesday, Ngunyi told off Cord leader Raila Odinga saying he should be arraigned in court and tried over the Kenya-Uganda sugar deal.
"Raila should be put on trial. The judge: poverty stricken Luos. And Luhyas craving his bondage. Charge: selfishness, selfishness, selfishness," he wrote.
"This Raila depiction is hilarious. Sugar farmers in Western, and Nyanza; plus Kibera youth must hang it on their walls."
Ngunyi joined the row over the sugar deal, which escalated this week, with National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale calling Raila the "Lord of poverty".
Speaking on Tuesday, Duale said Raila has not explained his role in the failures that brought the sugar industry "to its knees, causing massive suffering in a region he claims to represent".
"All Cord and its leader Raila have done so far is point fingers, cast blame, misinform, and compound the despondency already weighing down the sugar growing community," he said.
Deputy President William Ruto, who also lent his voice to the sugar debate, said Raila owes Mumias Sugar Sh33 million.
Raila has been critical of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s sugar deal with Uganda, which he says is “at the expense of the interests of 10 million poor Kenyans.”
Cord is planning a series of rallies in Western and Nyanza to explain to sugarcane farmers what the Uganda sugar pact means to them.
