An MP has urged people who have issued "unwarranted, injurious and malicious falsehoods" against Cord leader Raila Odinga to acquire "very good lawyers".
Suna East MP Junet Mohammed joined "all naturalised Luos, friends of Luos, all people of western Kenya and, indeed, all Kenyans" in asking authorities to pursue the matter.
The opposition, led by Raila, and Jubilee leaders, led by Deputy President William Ruto, have been engaging in a war of words over the Kenya-Uganda sugar deal.
On Monday, Raila threatened to sue National Assembly Leader Aden Duale if he does not pay him for claiming he owes Mumias Sugar Company.
Junet added that the Luo community will not take any "slight innuendo, rumour or statements of insignificant facts which attempt to define our economic situation" lightly.
Via Facebook on Tuesday, he said his people "take great exception to demeaning statements coming from well-known government quarters".
The MP issued the remark following political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi's apology the same day, for terming Luos "poverty-stricken".
He said any apology should take into account the fact that repeats are likely, adding; "This has been going on since the 1960s and must now stop."
"If indeed we Luos are poor, we urge the government not to continue impoverishing us by destroying the few industries located in our region," he said.
While issuing the remark, Ngunyi told off Raila saying he should be arraigned in court and tried over the sugar deal, which acting Agriculture Adan Mohammed said is "non-existent".
"Raila should be put on trial. The judge: poverty stricken Luos. And Luhyas craving his bondage. Charge: selfishness, selfishness, selfishness," he said on Twitter.
He apologised "unreservedly" saying no harm was intended and that; "I am a product of Luo scholars whom I respect immensely. I eat the humble pie".
Law Society of Kenya CEO Apollo Mboya had petitioned for a probe into Ngunyi over alleged hate speech against a particular community.
"Now that you have apologised, your apology will be considered in mitigation and sentencing," Mboya told Ngunyi in reply via Twitter.
The LSK boss wrote to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission seeking investigations into the political analyst's tweets.
In a letter dated August 24, Mboya said Ngunyi’s tweets were "lacking individuality and in a state of mental slavery".
In rejoinder, Ngunyi had said; "I am writing to the LSK Council to find out if LSK has become a branch of Cord. And if one Apollo Mboya speaks for the council on this matter."
"Apollo Mboya should be fired for abuse of office and demeaning the law profession. If he passed his law school, he should re-read my tweets," he added.
