Revealed: Why President Uhuru did not send Kalonzo condolence message

During the recent burial of a sister of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, mourners were surprised that President Uhuru did not even send a condolence message, let alone attending. Given the high-ranking positions Kalonzo has held in the previous governments, including being a Vice President, many expected the President to designate at least a government official to read his message to the bereaved family. However, our source says Uhuru has never forgiven Kalonzo over his botched ICC shuttle diplomacy debacle” – Star Newspaper.
Kenya Today has also independently gathered that Kalonzo was approached by people close to President Uhuru if he could agree to become Speaker of Parliament in the event a censure motion against Speaker Justin Muturi succeeded.
In fact, it is believed that the coup to eject Muturi had the blessings of Jubilee government until it was clear CORD MPs would not support it.
The initial idea was to have an independent MP move the motion to remove Muturi, then ‘allow’ CORD – which is the opposition – lead in having Muturi ejected, thereafter bring Kalonzo on board and split the opposition. Kalonzo would then be speaker until after a successful re-election of Uhuru, when Muturi would return as speaker.
However, when Kalonzo was approached, he flatly refused to play ball, and called his co-principal Raila Odinga and Moses Wetangula, to inform them of the Jubilee move. In the meantime, Muturi was to be appointed an Ambassador or a commissioner in IEBC.
