Professor George Eshiwani dies in Aga Khan Hospital Kisumu after illness

Professor George Eshiwani, the former Vice-Chancellor of Kenyatta University died Saturday afternoon at the Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu where he had gone for treatment.
Eshiwani’s wife rushed him to hospital from their Kakamega home after the academician complained that he was feeling unwell.
While at the hospital however, Eshiwani collapsed and efforts by medical staff to resuscitate him bore no fruit.
Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli was the first to break the news of the demise of the decorated academician on his Facebook account.
“Pole sana to all those who know a patriotic Kenyan scholar Professor George Eshiwani has just passed on an hour ago at the hospital in Western Kenya as my relative more information later God Bless,” Atwoli said.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga sent a message of condolence to the family of the late professor in which he eulogised the Eshiwani as a good friend and accomplished academician.
“His immense contribution to the growth of Kenyatta University will be remembered by many, especially those who went through the institution,” Raila said.
Mount Kenya University founder Simon Gicharu also paid tribute to Eshiwani and said the late professor was a great educationist.
