KAKAMEGA Senator Bonny Khalwale has named senior leaders he claims have been “bought” by Jubilee to rock the Cord coalition from within.
Khalwale said President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have wooed some Cord and other leaders from Western Kenya.
He was addressing a gathering in Kisumu’s Kondele Grounds on Friday, accompanied by Cord co-principals Raila Odinga and Moses Wetang’ula.
Khalwale said Jubilee is working day and night to divide Cord for the government’s selfish interests.
“They have bought Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, Gideon Mung’aro from Coast, Alfred Mutua from Eastern and Magerer Lang’at,” Khalwale said.
“They are trying to buy my brother from Budalang’i, but I’m trying to reach out to him to reject the offer for money,” he said.
The senator said Jubilee has also “bought” UDF leader Musalia Mudavadi and former Saboti MP Eugene Wamalwa.
“We should emulate heroes like Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and Masinde Muliro, who never engaged in politics of money,” Khalwale said.
Wetang’ula said Raila, Kalonzo Musyoka and himself will stick together until 2017.
“Nobody shall divide us and we are confident of taking this country’s leadership in the next general election,” he said.
Funyula MP Paul Otuoma accused ODM secretary general Anyang’ Nyong’o of mismanaging the party.
He said some secretariat officials are running a parallel wing of the party.
Otuoma said no ODM leader is justified to break away from the main party.
He said the ODM secretariat must rise to the occasion and put its house in order.
The leaders were speaking after Wetang’ula was discharged from the Aga Khan Hospital, where he had been admitted for two hours due to fatigue.
They later addressed crowds in the Kisumu Bus Park and the famous Kondele Grounds.
Leaders who attended the rallies include Kisumu county majority leader Samuel Ong’ou, Vihiga county nominated MCA Ben Ombima and ODM national youth leader Rashid Mohammed.
