Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero is reportedly displeased with the naming of a road in Karen after him.
The road, now Dr. Evans O Kidero road, is some metres after the high-end Galleria mall and links Langata Road to Bomas of Kenya.
Kidero is reportedly not at peace with Nairobi CEC member for roads Evans Ondieki after he (Ondieki) apparently named the road without consulting him.
A senior officer at City Hall informed the Star of Kidero's displeasure with the naming. The officer said Kidero recently summoned all the officers who mooted the idea adding that they will face disciplinary action. Kidero is also said to have ordered that the road sign be pulled down.
Efforts to get an official statement regarding the road from City Hall since Monday have been futile. Ondieki didn't respond to calls and messages sent to his phone.
County information directors Beryl Okundi and Walter Mongare also declined to comment on the issue.
"Thats a very hot potato. Ask Ondieki because he knows what he did," said Beryl Okundi.
Efforts to get a comment from Kidero were also futile as he too did not respond to calls and messages sent to his phone.
The naming of the road has caused a stir on social media in the last two weeks with several questions raised about why Kidero named it after himself.
