What KIDERO did after refusing to attend RAILA ODINGA’s rally- Switching off his phone

Tuesday July 8, 2014 - Embattled Nairobi Governor, Dr. Evans Kidero, on Monday moved to widen the gap between him and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) after he refused to attend the Saba Saba rally despite being hosted at his Nairobi County.

Instead, Kidero used the time to join President Uhuru Kenyatta’s wife, Margaret, in her efforts to save mothers and children from dying during birth through her Beyond Zero Campaign.

Kidero officially joined the Beyond Zero Campaign alongside Lands Cabinet Secretary, Charity Ngilu, and together launched a road show that will move around Nairobi sensitizing women on the importance of seeking services of qualified staff when giving birth.

Kidero lauded President Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, for saving women’s lives by the introduction of free maternity services last year, a move that did not go down well with Raila Odinga and his CORD sycophants who have cast aspersions on free maternity, saying it has flopped.

Kidero now risks losing his seat as Nairobi Governor if CORD will make good their threats to impeach him to pave way for a fresh by-election.
