Four youths have been admitted to Bondo sub county hospital after they went berserk during a police recruitment exercise conducted on Monday.
The victims were part of hundreds of candidates who had turned up for the grueling exercise at Bondo Township School ground with hopes of joining the police force.
The candidates were subjected to a mandatory six kilometers road race.
Drama started when the four male recruits returned from the race and started behaving weirdly after they allegedly lost consciousness.
This saw a struggle between them and the officers as one of them, who emerged fourth in the race, turned violent after collapsing.
One of them physically attempted to fight Bondo medical officer of health Dr Julius Oliech and the area acting police boss Paul Kiarie before he was contained.
Divine intervention was even sort to calm down the four.
Dr Oliech confirmed that the four had just gone into a state of confusion after they collapsed, adding that medical examination has revealed that they experienced severe dehydration and shock as a result of strain.
"The four went into mental lapses because of severe dehydration and shock as a result of strain," Oliech told The Star.
The three are in a stable condition except one whose condition is worsening, said Oliech. He assured that they are still carrying out a series of tests to contain his situation.
