CORD delegates in Nairobi have said Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga remains the party's preferred presidential candidate in the 2017 general elections.
The delegates led by former Nairobi Mayor Goerge Aladwa have vowed to fully support Odinga in his presidential bid.
Addressing a gathering at Kibera's Kamukunji grounds yesterday, Aladwa said the forthcoming executive party elections should be transparent to curb in-house wrangles that have always befallen the party in the past.
Aladwa added that the Nairobi delegation will support Kennedy Marende as party chairman, Evans Kidero as vice chairman and James Orengo as the secretary general during the elections.
“Our Prime Minister Raila Odinga remains to be the party leader Deputised by Mombasa's Hassan Joho”, said Aladwa. He said that this would automatically qualify Odinga as the party's presidential candidate in 2017 with Joho as his running mate.
Aladwa added that the current trends witnessed in the Bungoma by-elections indicate ODM and CORD are still strong.
He called on all the leaders to put aside all their personal greed and focus on improving the party management to attract more people.
He challenged those who are vying for various seats in the national office to come up with a new office that will be people friendly.
