Uhuru appoints Kuttuny chief political adviser

Friday, July 26, 2013 - 00:00 -- BY MAXWELL MASAVA
President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed former Cherangany Member of Parliament Joshua Kuttuny as one of his chief advisers. The youthful politician will now advise the government on political affairs.
He will be based at Harambee House and have an office at State House. Kuttuny lost the Cherangany seat to Boston Marathon champion Wesley Korir who vied as an independent candidate.
Uhuru has borrowed a leaf from his predecessor Mwai Kibaki who in 2008 appointed a team of special advisers. Kibaki appointed former Foreign Affairs Minister Raphael Tuju and former Lands Minister Kivutha Kibwana to the Office of the President as advisers.
Uhuru’s moves comes after he said the most “difficult assignment” in the country is uniting Kenyans after the March polls. He told a section of Muslims at State House last weekend that he was determined to leave a legacy of a united country.
Kuttuny is a strong supporter of the ruling Jubilee alliance. In the March 4 polls he vied for the parliamentary seat on Deputy President William Ruto’s URP party ticket.
