Corridors of Power

THURSDAY, MAY 23, 2013 - 00:00 -- BY POLITICAL DESK
The chairman of a certain commission is a subject of discussion in bars and restaurants. The man has been sexually harassing junior employees and chasing other men's wives for sexual favours, a move that has embarrassed the commission several times. It is also understood that the man has impregnated several women—some even related to his wives—and has shamelessly asked  the commission to foot their bills. So disgusted are the employees and commissioners that they have written a protest note detailing all these issues to the Cabinet Secretary responsible asking that the man be disciplined.

People close to Deputy President William Ruto were yesterday angry with the media for "targeting" their man with a smear campaign. The hangers-on called several senior journalists to protest at what they termed "fabrication of stories intended to finish our man".

If you thought that the pigs demo outside Parliament was a showstopper, you ain't seen nothing yet. Corridors has it that another group of activist are planning to stage a "peculiar" demonstration outside Vigilance House to press for action over grabbed land. The land in question is in Westlands and those planning the demo are claiming the police have refused to arrest those involved despite clear evidence that an offence has been committed. So what is this peculiar demo?

There seems to be a silent war in Cord. In the last few weeks, several MPs have complained that the Leader of Minority in Parliament, Francis Nyenze, and his deputy, Jakoyo  Midiwo, are reading from different scripts. One MP told Corridors that Midiwo takes instructions from Cord leader Raila Odinga on what to do and say in Parliament whereas Nyenze listens to Kalonzo Musyoka. The MP said that this has weakened the coalition and that Jubillee members are simply laughing at them.
