Ms Amina Mohammed has been sworn-in as Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony on Sunday at State Lodge, Sagana, President Uhuru Kenyatta congratulated Mrs Amina Mohammed on her appointment, saying he looked forward to working closely with her in pushing the country’s agenda at the international arena.
The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Secretary to the Cabinet and Head of Public Service Mr Francis Kimemia.
President Kenyatta noted that Ms Mohammed has the requisite experience in foreign affairs and expressed confidence that she would manage the country’s foreign police and agenda.
Mr Kenyatta said that the Foreign Affairs Ministry is a critical docket especially with regard to the implementation of the country’s policy of economic diplomacy.
President Kenyatta further said his government is keen on pursuing a vigorous foreign policy to advance Kenya’s interests in the region and beyond.
Ms Mohammed did not take oath of office together with her colleagues last week because she had travelled out of the country to hand over her previous office at the UN.
