Nairobi, Kenya: Christians from various denominations will this Sunday converge for a national prayer service at Uhuru Park, Grounds to thank God for peaceful elections.
The National Christian Prayer Service will be hosted by Reverend Teresa Wairimu, Founder and Director of the Faith Evangelistic Ministry in collaboration with other Christian church leaders.
Reverend Wairimu said the service would also seek God’s providence and blessings to sustain Kenya’s national harmony and unity.
She said a series of intense prayer sessions, preceding the general elections by the entire Christian fraternity and Kenyans had played a role in facilitating the prevailing peace and normalcy in the country.
She further commended Kenyans for maintaining peace.
“As members of the Kenyan Christian church, we cannot take for granted the prevailing Peace and National stability that we continue to enjoy. For this reason, we have joined hands to host this thanksgiving National Prayer service to provide spiritual guidance for the nation while appreciating the important role that Kenyans have played in maintaining peace,” she said.
Reverend Wairimu confirmed that invitations’ had been extended to all political, business leaders and Kenyans from all walks of life.
Invitation has been extended to President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto and it is not clear yet whether they will attend the prayer meeting.
President-elect Uhuru and Ruto were among the presidential candidates last month shared a podium in their call for Kenyans to vote peacefully and avoid violence.
The Prayer peace rally hosted by self-proclaimed Prophet David Owuor of Repentance and Holiness church made the leaders to commit themselves to peace.
