DPM takes issue with Cord coalition for claiming they cannot implement law
Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta has as- sured Kenyans Jubilee government will implement the Constitution.  The alliance flag bearer, who took his presidential campaigns to Kisii yesterday, said Kenyans voted for the Constitution overwhelmingly and it is their duty to ensure it is implemented.
Accompanied by his running mate, Eldoret North MP William Ruto and several Jubilee leaders, Uhuru took issue with the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy leaders for claiming the alliance will not implement the law, saying they are playing politics.  He urged Kenyans to ask candidates to account for their time as leaders, saying they cannot rival him and Ruto on their performance in the various ministries they have held.
The DPM, who earlier addressed a congregation at Tabaka Catholic church, before holding rallies at Nyamarambe, Etago, Mogonga, Kenyenya and Magena, said it is  during his tenure as Finance Minister, when many projects under the Economic Stimulus Programme were implemented.  “My brother Ruto saw the prices of farm inputs come down while he was Agriculture minister,” he said.  Uhuru said the Jubilee government can be trusted to improve the country’s economy.
He urged Kenyans to embrace peace and shun negative ethnicity and vote for leaders who will unite the country and implement policies to address poverty in the rural areas.  Jubilee, said Uhuru, has incorporated all Kenyan tribes, saying those calling it a tribal outfit are merely politicking.  Youth and women, said Uhuru, will be given collateral and interest-free loans to venture into income generating activities to alleviate poverty and boost the country’s economy.
Ruto told Kenyans to elect leaders based on their policies and development agenda for the country and reject those who thrive on empty rhetoric.  The Eldoret North lawmaker  deplored poor infrastructure in the area, saying the Jubilee government will build a railway line nationally to reduce transport costs.  “We want to improve the economy empowering youths with appropriate technologies,” stated Ruto, adding Jubilee government will invest in agriculture, health, infrastructure and education.
Prof Ongeri urged the Abagusii community to unite ahead of the March 4 elections and vote for Uhuru to win the seat in round one.  Uhuru and Ruto lauded President Kibaki for his legacy and urged Raila and Kalonzo to retire with him after Parliament approved their hefty retirement perks.  Others present were MPs Danson Mungatana, Aden Duale, Rachael Shebesh, Walter Nyambati, Wilfred Ombui, Mike Mbuvi and Hassan Mohamed.
