General Service Unit personnel have been deployed to guard ODM headquarters at Orange House in Nairobi following threats by rowdy youths to storm it over recent party nominations.
On Sunday, youths pelted the building with stones, destroying property of undetermined value.
On Monday, the GSU personnel prevented passers-by from getting near the building.
ODM officials who have been compiling the party’s list of nominees for the March 4 elections were forced to operate from undisclosed venues.
National Elections Board chairman Franklin Bett was also forced to twice reschedule a press conference to announce the nominees after party supporters jammed the venues.
Chairman of the ODM National Elections Appeals Board Joseph Kiangoi was to give a report following various appeals presented to the party.
Mr Bett announced that no elections were held in Kisumu, Migori and Homa Bay counties and that nominees for some of the posts would be decided through consensus.
He said that the party had started issuing certificates to candidates in areas without disputes.
