Raila promises to address historical injustices

By Brigid Chemweno
Prime Minister Raila Odinga has assured the Maasai community that he would address historical injustices if elected president.
Raila said the community has been experiencing injustices of land grabbing since time immemorial and assured them that the vice will come to an end if he takes over leadership.
Speaking in Oltepesi area of Kajiado West where he endorsed Mr Joseph ole Simel, who is vying for parliamentary seat in the constituency on ODM party ticket, Raila said Kenyans should elect leaders of integrity whom they have confidence in.
“If elected, I will implement the new Constitution fully so that Kenyans can realise positive change,” said Raila.
The PM said the country was in need of a good leader who would drive the country into the right direction, and he is equal to the task. He claimed Kenyans did not have confidence in some leaders in the Jubilee Alliance who opposed the Constitution when others were fighting for it to be voted in.
He likened them to a warthog, which when beaten in a grazing field, forgets what had happened and returns to the same field to graze.
“Leaders who did not want to vote for the Constitution had spread false information that abortion will be legalised and your land will be taken away,” he said.
The presidential aspirant promised to offer employment to the youth.
He explained that Kajiado County was well endowed with resources and he would improve agriculture and livestock keeping in the region to benefit the locals.
Veteran politician John Keen who was also present urged Kenyans to embrace peace as election period nears and live together in unity.
