Prime Minister Raila Odinga today made a triumphant entry in Kakamega county where he took his Presidential campaigns emphasizing that the CORD alliance would bring a total transformation to the country once elected into government.
Saying the alliance has clear policies that will make that transformation possible , Mr. Odinga cited education, agriculture, infrastructure , poverty eradication and provision of jobs to the youth as some of the areas the CORD government will concentrate on in its reform programmes.
Addressing wananchi at various centres while on the campaign trail, the PM at the same time advised voters against tribal politics that put a high premium on ethnicity than ones’ ability to perform and deliver to the people of Kenya.
He said, “ I urge Kenyans to evaluate political party and aspirants ideologies more than tribalism in electing leaders in the general elections,” and added, “politicians banking on their tribes to win seats face a big disappointment in the polls.”
Mr. Odinga noted that the importance of the March 4th. general election was only comparable to the 1963 independence elections adding the country was on the threshold of major reforms if CORD was elected into government.
“I therefore appeal to Kenyan voters to make a wise decision and vote for CORD and change other than voting for our competitors who will continue with the status quo,” he said.
Mr.Odinga pointed out that some of the issues a CORD government will seek to improve on is the youth development fund and the women enterprise fund , noting that a CORD government will transform them into viable entities by first training the youth and women in business matters, then give them grants to start businesses before finally giving loans to expand those businesses.
He said, “This policy is only unique to the CORD alliance and will only be possible under a CORD government, if you elect other parties you will lose big.”
The PM further noted that in a bid to cushion old people from the vagaries of poverty, his government would provide a stipend to all old people aged 65 years and above.
Mr.Odinga was later joined for a public rally at Kakamega’s Muliro gardens by other CORD Principals Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula
