Mutati returns to Kalonzo's wiper party

A Mwingi North politician, who recently deserted Kalonzo Musyoka in favour of archrival Charity Ngilu has returned to Kalonzo’s camp.

Mutati Nzoka, who after ditching the Wiper party last September kicked a storm by claiming that Kalonzo handlers were persecuting him after he was arrested in Kitui, yesterday sang the VPs praises.

After defecting to Ngilu’s Narc, the Wiper officials issued a statement denouncing Mutati and disowned him.

In a phone interview yesterday, Mutati, who had embarked on campaigns for the parliamentary seat on Narc Party ticket, said he had shelved his ambition.

Mutati said that he had realised that he was “following the wind by sticking with and campaigning for the Narc party.” He said it had dawned on him that Cord which is associated to the VP would garner 95 per cent of votes in Kitui County.

 “After a lot of soul searching I have realised that neither Jubilee nor Ngilu’s Narc that lacks direction and leadership would beat Kalonzo’s wiper in the elections. I cannot therefore continue clinging to the losing party,” said Mutati.

He clarified that he did not abandon his quest because he was unpopular but because he did not have enough time to campaign and winning the Wiper nominations slated for next Thursday. He said he would now campaign for Cord and its candidates across the entire Mwingi.

“I am just temporarily hanging my boot but I will be in the race in full force come 2017. Since I have only defected to the Wiper party at the eleventh hour, I do not have enough time to prepare for the party primaries,” he said.
