JUST IN: Four students KILLED in ROAD ACCIDENT on opening day

Monday, the 7th of January 2013 - The Kenyan DAILY POST has received reports that at least four primary school students were killed and four others injured after a saloon car veered off the road and ran them over in Burnt Forest, Uasin Gishu County.

The eight students are said to be pupils at the Kapkoi Primary School. The accident reportedly occurred while they were on their lunch break.

Reports are still sketchy but we understand that the four injured students have been rushed to a local hospital. There is no word yet on what might have caused the car to veer off the road.

The accident occurred on a day that students throughout the country returned to school after the long Christmas break.

The accident also highlights the serious need to put an end to road carnage which, according to some statistics, has already claimed more than 25 lives since the year began.

More on this story to follow.
