'General Election to bring revolution' says Raila

The PM noted that implementation of the constitution was key to the changes that would be brought about by the peaceful revolution
Prime Minister Raila Odinga  has said that the coming general election will bring a peaceful revolution to the country and urged Kenyan voters to turn up in large numbers to cast their votes on March 4th.
Noting that Kenyans had a responsibility to chart the destiny of this country, the PM reminded voters that it was imperative that they elect leaders who will steer the country in the right direction.
He noted that implementation of the constitution was key to the changes that would be brought about by the peaceful revolution, and   advised Kenyan voters to elect leaders with determination and the will to implement the new law.
Addressing a public rally at Kikima market in Mbooni, Makueni county Tuesday, Mr. Odinga  expressed confidence  that the CORD alliance  would win the election in the first round  and form  the next government.
The PM unveiled major development plans for Ukambani geared at revamping the economies of the region which is largely arid and semi arid.
Mr. Odinga said a CORD government would increase resource allocation to water and irrigation projects, infrastructure and in the development of mines in the region.
He noted that the provision of water was especially critical to the people of Ukambani region adding a CORD government would prioritize the construction of water dams, wells, and water pans to make clean water available to local people.
"It is unfortunate that millions of shillings allocated for the construction of water projects in this region has not yielded much," and added, "this are some of the projects we intend to revive when we come into government."
The PM at the same time put the contractor building the Tawa-Kikima-Kyambalasi  road on notice saying that he will be replaced if he will not have completed constructing the road by the dawn of the next government.
He said, "It is  unfortunate that the contractor has overrun the contract period having been  on site since 2008,  yet he has not completed the road."
Once again, Mr, Odinga thanked  the Vice President for sacrificing his Presidential ambitions and supporting  him noting that it was a selfless move that will bring unity  in  the country .
The PM chided those who saying that Kalonzo did not gain in the  CORD coalition arrangement, explaining  the post of the deputy President had more responsibilities than that of the Vice President.
Mr. Odinga explained that  while the former is a Presidential appointee  without security of tenure, the deputy Presidency is elected together with the President with a mandate to perform Presidential duties in the absence of the President.
The PM announced that the South Eastern University, a constituent  college  of the University of Nairobi will soon setup a branch in Mbooni adding  that a CORD government  will ensure that bursaries were awarded to all university students compulsorily from the next final year.
Noting that it had not been possible to fully implement the ODM manifesto as set out in 2007, Mr. Odinga  disclosed  that the now harmonized manifesto of the CORD alliance  would  dovetail in the constitution to bring the desired changes to the country.
Other speakers at the rally were  immediate former area MP and Minister for Education Mutula Kilonzo, Kangundo MP Johnstone Muthama, and the immediate former Kibwezi MP Prof. Philip Kaloki.
