Two Nairobi politicians affiliated to the Jubilee coalition are reportedly planning how they will derail the party's presidential election if they lose at the nominations. The two politicians have been meeting their key supporters after word went out that the coalition wants them to remain MPs instead of going for other, higher positions due to questions over their integrity. One of them has even vowed to use the ICC cases to campaign against the Jubilee coalition presidential nominee.
A youthful aspirant for one of the parliamentary seats in Nakuru over the weekend pulled out a gun on a fellow patron at a popular night spot in the town. The man, who has got a reputation of being flamboyantly generous was angry that the patron had rubbished his campaigns and chances of winning the parliamentary elections. The aspirant retrieved his gun from the car and returned to the club and started pistol-whipping the hapless man. Both men then reported the incident to the Central police station where they gave conflicting and contradictory statements. The police boss is yet to act on the incident.
Aspirants, especially those who are not financially endowed, must make do with what they have. One such aspirant for the Kisumu county senate was taken aback when elderly women who had been waiting for 'gifts' from him became angry when they realized what the 'gifts' were— Matchboxes! The women quickly turned on him and started shouting slogans against him as they hurled back the match boxes. When the situation threatened to become rowdy, the aspirant and his entourage sped away from the scene leaving behind the bewildered women who could not believe that the aspirant expected them to vote for him for a mere matchbox.
