Aspirants to use party register in primaries

By Eric Lungai
ODM aspirants in Vihiga County have resolved to use party membership registers from the sub-branch offices in the nominations instead of the IEBC registers. They said the use of party membership registers would be more convenient in the exercise.
This was reached at during a meeting at a hotel in Chavakali town, held to discuss some issues that had been passed by their party’s National Elections Board before the party’s nominations slated for January 17.
However, other aspirants had divided opinions, arguing that the use of IEBC would give a credible nomination.
“If we only use the party registers, we may get people who have not registered as voters coming into the nominations, and then they won’t help us in the main elections which will be disastrous,” Francis Luduva, an aspirant said.
The area party co-ordinator, George Muyera said that ODM was prepared for the exercise.
