THIS IS IMPUNITY. Now that UDF presidential aspirant Musalia Mudavadi has concluded that all the 40 million Kenyans, including the victims of the post-2007 election violence, are to blame for the mayhem, Kumbih Karara is curious to know what is next. He poses: “Are we also going to share blame for the Goldenberg and Anglo-Leasing scandals? And will new scandals also be blamed on the citizens if he becomes president after the March General Election?” Kumbi disagrees, insisting that “impunity must be punished”.

FAULU HAS LET ME DOWN. Faulu account holder Charles Irungu (No 2353655) in August last year took a loan of Sh15,000 and paid Sh500 every week until February 9, this year. He then applied for another Sh20,000, paying a lawyer’s fee of Sh250. He was told a cheque would be ready in three days. It wasn’t, but to his utter surprise, Sh2,580 was deducted from his savings account in alleged arrears, yet he had cleared the earlier loan and didn’t get a new one. His contact is Tel 0721393479.

A BUNDLE OF WOES. On September 17, Esther Mareka bought some 200MB of data from Airtel and got a bonus of a similar amount. Later that night, she checked and her balance was 396MB. But a day later, she discovered her airtime was being used up instead of the bundles. She called customer care and was informed they had a problem with bundles, promising to sort it out in 24 hours. Nothing has happened to date. The reference is No 542136 and her contact, ew.mareka@gmail.com.

A LAW UNTO THEMSELVES? Impunity appears to be the other name of the matatu sub-sector, and Paul Gitonga reports it has never been as blatantly evident as in the past few days near Nairobi’s Westlands Shopping Centre. The most notorious is the stage at the junction of Mpaka Road where matatus pick up and drop off passengers in the middle of the road. They also make U-turns, and the drivers and conductors are rude and insult other motorists. For details, Paul’s contact is watetug@gmail.com.

WAKE UP WETANG'ULA. Trade minister Moses Wetang’ula should be held responsible for the senseless vandalising of guard rails at bridges on the highways and other public installations since it is his ministry that licenses scrap metal dealers, says Richard Kihara. “The minister should take full responsibility and compensate for the losses. Or he should get serious and cancel the licences to stop these heinous crimes.”

ROAD A NIGHTMARE. While he appreciates that roads have to be built, J. Mann says it can be a source of immense inconvenience and is “sometimes maddening”. The Galleria Mall-Bomas of Kenya junction in Nairobi, he adds, has become a nightmare lately. “It took me an hour on Saturday to cover the less than 200 metres, because there were no traffic police. Why can’t the Karen police boss place an officer at this junction during this construction?” His contact is moffix@hotmail.com.
Have a flowing day, won’t you!
