Cyrus Jirongo Could Be Expunged From His Party

Presidential Aspirant Cyrus Jirongo has found himself in a quagmire after the party he expected to use as his vehicle to state house expressed the desire to form coalition and support the presidential flag bearer of the party.

Federal Party of Kenya (FPK) top organ has indicated that they are looking at working with a party that has the potential of riding to victory come the 2013 elections.

Party Chairman Kizito Temba said that the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) would meet on Wednesday to withdraw their support for Jirongo’s presidential bid and chat their next political course.

“The correct position is that NEC will meet next Wednesday and the agenda is to see how we can go into an agreement with a different political party. We are convinced as a party that although Jirongo has expressed interest to run on FPK, we do not think he is the best aspirant. I do not want to anticipate what NEC will decide, but among the parties we are considering working with are TNA or New Ford-Kenya,” Kizito said

These concerns have been raise after the party's leadership realized that Jirongo's bid is not driven by the desire to take the leadership of Kenya but to propel the interests of Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Jirongo had quit Ruto's United Republican Party (URP) complaining of dictatorship and project tag claiming that URP is a state house project.
