Tour guide kills hotelier over Sh20 dispute

By ANTONY GITONGA
A tour guide stabbed a hotelier to death after they differed over Sh20 in Kamere estate, Naivasha.
The suspect fled the scene soon after the incident, but was later arrested by police.
The tour guide claimed the hotelier had tried to molest him and he stabbed him out of anger.
But witnesses said the suspect had bought mandazi from the hotel and the two differed over change.
“The suspect was demanding Sh20 balance but the hotelier said he had handed it over to him and this degenerated into a fight,” said a witness.
He said the tour guide stabbed the hotelier on the chest twice. He was rushed to Naivasha District Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Naivasha OCPD Ernest Oponyo said the suspect was arrested in Hell’s Gate National Park.
He said investigation into the incident has been launched and the accused would be arraigned in court to answer to murder charge.
“The suspect is being held at Kongoni Police Station and the body was moved to Naivasha District Hospital mortuary,” he said.
