Three Kenya Defence Forces personnel who were reported missing last Friday after battling Al-Shabaab militia in Somalia's Miido town have been found. Read (Amisom says 36 militants killed)
Kenya’s military spokesman Emmanuel Chirchir on Sunday posted on his official twitter account that the KDF soldiers had now been found.
"3 of KDF troops missing found. Bravo Special Forces and for your bravery hats off," he said.
However, Major Chirchir did not reveal on the physical conditions of the personnel or where they were found.
On Saturday, Amisom reported that thirty-six militias were killed and five KDF personnel went missing during the fight.
On Friday, the Kenyan troops captured Miido town after fighting the Al-Shabaab militia the whole night, having started at 4pm.
“This was a brave and important operation conducted by the Amisom forces in lower Juba.
"Securing the strategic town of Miido will allow the local community to rebuild their lives free from the terror and tyranny imposed by Al-Shabaab. I pay tribute to the bravery and commitment of all the soldiers involved in this operation.
"Amisom is committed to protecting hard won security gains to ensure Somalia continues on the road to sustainable peace,” said the African Union Mission in Somalia (Amisom) commander Lt-Gen Andrew Gutti on Saturday.

Al-Shabaab spokesman Sheikh Ali Mohamoud Raghe alias Sheikh Ali Dhere has however claimed victory over KDF.
“Our militants displayed the dead bodies of the enemy of Allah,” said Sheikh Ali Dhere via al-Andalus, a media run by Al-Shabaab.
Kismayu exodus
Kismayu residents have began fleeing the region fearing fights between KDF and Al-Shabaab militia.
Most of the residents have relocated to the agricultural towns of Jamama and Jilib.
A resident in Kismayu who preferred to remain anonymous told Nation that tension was indeed high in the region.
He added that two salvos fired from the Indian ocean on Saturday evening landed at the town’s port.
“We assume that a third barrage landed outside the town,” said the resident. “Kenyan navy is the most likely force firing the town,” he said.
