Man kills daughter over paternity row

By Renson Mnyamwezi
Police have arrested a couple for allegedly killing and burying their daughter in the forest in Taita-Taveta County.
According to police and grief-stricken villagers of Mwachabo location in Mwatate District, the man had claimed he had not sired the five-year-old girl.
“He has been complaining that his wife gave birth out of wedlock souring the relationship,” said a villager. Villagers said two of their children had been taken to a children’s home due to marital problems.
Police said after strangulation, the man stuffed the body into a sack and buried it 600 metres away from his house. His wife Cicilia Wakesho, 28, has been arrested for failing to report the matter to police. “I could not report because my husband had threatened to kill me,” she told The Standard at Wundanyi Police Station where they were remanded.
Taita OCPD Samson Kinne said police have launched investigation.
