Kabando abandons Mudavadi for Uhuru

  • In a statement that also talked about Mr Kenyatta’s innocence over the post-election violence, Mr Kabando said he had quit Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi’s United Democratic Forum (UDF).

Assistant minister Kabando wa Kabando has joined Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta’s The National Alliance (TNA).
In a statement on Tuesday that also talked about Mr Kenyatta’s innocence over the post-election violence, Mr Kabando said he had quit Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi’s United Democratic Forum (UDF). (READ: Politicians to ditch parties in defections)
“As we helped (post-election violence) victims, some of these ex-ODM and reigning ODM chiefs were holed up in their conspiratorial domains, baying for power,” he said in the statement.

The assistant minister said Mr Kenyatta had every right to vie for Kenya’s presidency despite the charges at The Hague.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s grip in Kisii is set for a setback after Foreign Affairs assistant minister Richard Onyonka said he might join TNA.
Mr Onyonka said he would only stay in ODM if Mr Odinga assured him of free party primaries.
The Kitutu Chache MP, who plans to run for the governor’s seat in Kisii, is expected to face off with Mr Odinga’s former chief campaigner, Mr James Ongwae.
