It is UHURU KENYATTA …….., KIBAKI believes

Sunday September 23,2012 - Political intrigues, conspiracy and patronage continues  to rock the Kibaki succession after the DAILY POST established that President Mwai Kibaki is  secretly  supporting Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta’s quest for presidency in the forthcoming elections.

According to sources privy to State House operations, the Head of State spent the better part of Tuesday last week celebrating The National Alliance (TNA) wins in Kangema and Kajiado North constituencies.

Although many political pundits and Kenyans believe the President is supporting Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi’s bid for presidency, it is now evident that Kibaki has now banked on the Gatundu South legislator as his immediate successor.

The source also revealed to the DAILY POST that despite rumour that Uhuru has fallen out with Kibaki over Mudavadi’s entry, President Kibaki rewarded Uhuru’s key ally Katoo Ole Metito with the powerful Internal Security Ministry to cement their friendship.

The Ministry of Internal Security is a key docket because the Minister has access to the intelligence information including political intelligence from the National Security Intelligence Service (NSIS).

One of the source said Mr Konchellah’s chances of getting elevated to the powerful Ministry, was thwarted by his refusal to endorse Uhuru Kenyatta’s candidature in the forthcoming elections.Kochellah is Party of National Unity (PNU) Chairman.

On his part Mathira MP Iphraim Maina, who is a close ally of the President, said the Head of State rewarded Katoo Ole Metito for his vehement support of Uhuru’s bid for presidency.

“The appointment of Cabinet Ministers is a prerogative of the President  in consultation with the PM.But the appointment  of Metito to Internal Security docket is an indication of  TNA influence. Metito played a key role for TNA  in the just ended by- elections in Kajiado North,” Maina said.
